Finnish band Time Flies returns with single “Attitude”
Finnish band Time Flies are gearing up to release the new single “Attitude” on Friday, November 1st. The song is packing attitude, melody, and harmony-laden speed into 90 seconds.
Time Flies made a comeback at last year’s Skepufest in Helsinki after a long break, and received an enthusiastic welcome from the festival audience. This reception sparked the idea for the group to return to the studio. In September 2024, Time Flies recorded the five-song EP ‘Back on Track’, with the first single release being the fast-paced, attitude-filled “Attitude”. Alongside the single, a music video is also being released, capturing the band’s performances in recent years.
“The song, which nods deeply in the direction of Bad Religion and other veterans, was really painlessly born out of our old gig recordings from the early ’90s. The lyrics and new arrangement were actually made just before the vocal recordings,” chuckles Esa Linna, the bassist of Time Flies.
Time Flies originally operated between 1990 and 1997. The lineup consisted of Olli Linna (vocals, guitar), Esa Linna (bass, vocals), Tomi Korhonen (guitar, backing vocals), and Kim Kannussaari (drums).
During its active years, the band released two DIY EPs and two studio albums, published by the Vaasa-based Kråklund Records, steered by the band Klamydia. Both the EPs and the mini-CD ‘Bubblegum Punk’ released in 1994, as well as ‘Happy Smile’ from 1995, sold out soon after their release. The track “Space Aliens” from Happy Smile was also included in the K-Tel Punk+ compilation. In 1996, Time Flies also recorded an album with the working title ‘Pumporganbank’, but it was never released due to the winding down of the band’s activities. Olli Linna passed away in 2002 due to an illness and Esa, Kim, and Tomi have been performing as a trio since 2013.
