Gallus to release new EP “Cool To Drive”
Following the release of their recent frenetic and satirical single, “Depressed Beyond Tablets” Scottish indie-punks Gallus have announced their brand-new EP, “Cool To Drive” set to be released on 11 April via Marshall Records. The latest track, “Just Desserts” accompanies the announcement.
The “Cool To Drive” EP sees Gallus up the attitude and tapping into their raw punk-driven sound. The EP demonstrates the band’s heavier side, and it was produced, mixed, and mastered by Blair Crichton of Dead Pony.
“We’re leaning much further into the punk end of the spectrum, and it feels very natural to us”, comments guitarist Eamon Ewins. “The energy in our live performances has always been there, but we feel that with this EP, our music is at its most visceral and raw
“…the lyrics are also written from the first-person perspective of semi-fictional characters. That decision was never conscious but plays to Barry’s strengths as a former actor. The character-driven nature of it makes the EP almost feel like a mini-series.”
The band will also hit the road, playing intimate shows in the EU, check the dates below:

GALLUS bottles that sense of anticipation, the idea that anything could happen. Throwing back to the days when responsibilities were few, anticipation was high, and opportunity was around every corner. The band combined the energetic bounce of the Sports Team with the tongue-in-cheek running commentary of life in 2022 of Yard Act and the introspection of contemporaries Fontaines D.C.
The band formed under unorthodox circumstances. After failing to launch their previous musical project, cousins Paul and Eamon Ewins recruited school friend Barry Dolan as their frontman after seeing him in a college play. Despite little to no musical background, his dynamism and energy drew them to him, and the band grew famous for these characteristics.
The band’s reputation for electric and, at times, chaotic live shows grew quickly. They soon filled rooms across the UK, Europe, and beyond, releasing their critically acclaimed album ‘We Don’t Like the People We’ve Become’ (via Marshall Records).
Having supported the likes of Biffy Clyro and played to thousands at festivals and showcases, including SXSW, Primavera Sound, Iceland Airwaves, The Great Escape and ESNS, seeing Gallus’ reputation on the international stage is starting to grow in notoriety. This was reflected in the band being crowned Best Rock/Alternative Category at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards in 2022. Be sure to catch the band live on tour in spring 2025.
