“Going Down to the Beach” is the new single from the upcoming album “The Green Door” by The Discarded, a father-and-sons garage rock trio with a raw, high-energy sound. This surf-punk track will appeal to fans of the Ramones, Rocket from the Crypt, Supersuckers, and Motörhead. “Going Down to the Beach” captures the band’s signature blend of gritty punk with a nostalgic surf rock twist, offering an anthem for unplugging and escaping the chaos of daily life. It’s just a taste of what’s to come when their full album drops on November 25, 2024.

Inspired by the early days of lockdown, frontman JP Wasson wrote the song while balancing work during the pandemic, yearning for a mental reset.

“Going Down to the Beach” by the Discarded embraces a retro, Beach Boys-meets-Ramones vibe, fusing punk intensity with a surf rock groove. With falsetto backups, tight punk riffs, and a Ramones, Dickies, and Descendents-inspired energy, the track blends catchy melodies with deep, introspective lyrics about finding calm amid chaos.

Musically, it captures the essence of a summer punk anthem, but thematically, it dives into self-reflection and finding healthy outlets to escape from destructive habits. It’s a sonic and emotional break—an anthem for clearing your head and grounding yourself.

The Green Door marks the band’s sixth full-length album, set for release on November 25, 2024. Like the first single “Testify!”, “Going Down to the Beach” further showcases the father-and-sons trio’s evolving garage rock sound mixed with a punch of classic punk. Produced by John Critchley (Elliott BROOD, Dan Mangan), the album delivers a high-energy experience brimming with raw emotion and retro influences.
