You Know?! release first single from upcoming album

You Know?!

Austrian punk rockers You Know?! has released the single “Permanent Wake Up”, which previously appeared in a different version on an EP, together with a music video. The new album “Post Utopia” will be released on July 19th, and is their first full-length album since “The Days Are Numbered” from 2008.

Founded in 2005, from other bands already active at the time, a musical combination of skate punk, melodic hardcore and a bit of metal grew. After a demo tape in 2007, a digital EP “Once our souls start merging, the truth is yet to come” was released in 2009 and finally another digital EP called “Permanent Wake Up” in 2017.

As a band, You Know?! from Austria are “extremely grateful for the scene in the Vöcklabruck area, which has been active from the very beginning. The collaboration and organization of countless shows and festivals since the end of the 90s have strongly influenced the band, which already released an album 10 years ago, and enabled a good exchange with many bands. We have shared the stage on our own doorstep with bands such as Me first and the gimme gimmes, Wizo, Against Me, Death by Stereo, Bouncing Souls, Toy Dolls, Mad Sin, Demented Are Go, and many more, not forgetting the many local Austrian bands,” says Mike, the band’s singer.

After the 2007 album “The days are Numbered”, they are now releasing another physical album on SBÄM Records in 2024. This time on vinyl. The songs were written between 2015 and 2020. In view of the current global situation, they feel dystopian in many places. Hence the title of the album. “Post Utopia” as if the, probably naive and utopian, hope for a better future for the world had collapsed… and yet it must go on in this madness, in this juggler’s market of (un)truths.

“For me personally, making music is first and foremost about expressing moods. That soothes me! It’s about getting into the moment together and letting everything fall away for a short time. Perhaps a kind of therapy 😉 Not so often anymore, but still honest”, Mike from YouKnow?!
